Introducing Fairfield Chiropractor Dr. Darrin Berardi
"Growing up as the son of a chiropractor, I saw firsthand how my father was able to help his patients to improve their health and quality of life. Early on, I told my father I also wanted to be a chiropractor, however he encouraged me to look at other careers, as he didn't want me to go into chiropractic just to follow in his footsteps."
"My deciding moment to become a chiropractor was my senior year in high school, when I was involved in a head-on automobile accident. I received substantial injuries to my head, neck and back. I had been a lifelong chiropractic patient to that point, but had never had such severe injuries. Without chiropractic care for those injuries, I know I would have been left with lifelong residuals. After my personal experience of regaining my health after those injuries, I decided I wanted to be able to help others achieve optimum health."
Dr. Darrin, a 1984 Fairfield High School graduate, began his pre-chiropractic education at Solano Community College. He studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.
After completing his study locally, he was accepted into Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California. During his four years at Life West, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques. He also administered patient care in the Life Chiropractic College Public Clinic during his last year. After graduating in 1989, Dr. Darrin returned to Fairfield and went into practice with his father, Dr. Peter Berardi.
"Ultimately in my practice, I want to improve the quality of life for my patients. Many times this is for acute care following an injury, but it goes even beyond that. We all have spines, and just like our teeth, they need to be maintained on a regular basis for optimal health. My obligation to my patients is to educate them and let them make the right decision for their lifelong health and wellness."
Dr. Darrin is married to Ramona and they have one son, Dominic. Dr. Darrin and his family enjoy working out at the gym, scuba diving, mountain biking and golf. They are also big NASCAR fans.
Dr. Darrin believes in being involved in the local community. He is a member of the Fairfield-Suisun Twilight Rotary Club, a board member of the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Solano Land Trust.
Dr. Darrin and Ramona work out at the gym on a regular basis with weights and cardio training and watch their diets to stay fit. In addition to a healthy diet, the Berardi's take vitamins on a daily basis and use herbal supplements when feeling under the weather, along with regular Chiropractic adjustments. While Dr. Darrin feels medications - such as antibiotics, anti-inflamatories and painkillers - have their place, they should be used on a short-term basis and not on an on-going basis if there is a possibility of getting to the root of the problem. Neither Dr. Darrin nor his son Dominic have ever had any vaccinations. (If that sounds interesting, be sure to ask Dr. Darrin to explain!)
